Akyaka

Akyaka is a city in the province of Mugla in Turkey. It lies on the coast of Gulf of Gökova, an indentation of Aegean Sea. The town lies close to the highway connecting Mugla and Marmaris. It's about a 20-25 minute drive from Marmaris. Akyaka is set on a sheltered sandy bay, with safe swimming in luke warm water. Surrounded by palm trees, the beach has a wonderfully tropical feel, but the village of Akyaka itself is very much a traditional Turkish village.

Bodrum

Bodrum is the site of the ancient city of Halikarnassus, the location of the famous Mausoleum of Halikarnassus - built after 353 BCE - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The east half of the town has a long thin but reasonable beach. Behind the beach lay all the bars restaurants and night clubs that are typical of Mediterranean resort towns. This means open fronted bars that do not come alive until 10pm when everybody goes out. As well as some nice beach fronted bars. It does have some reasonable clubs, Halikarnas being the obvious one as it is huge accomodating 4000 people. It also is mostly outdoors and hosts foam parties on regular occasions.

Bozburun

Bozburun, on the Datca peninsula is a peaceful place to stroll among the shops by the water and to enjoy the aroma of the sea, all in a traditional seaside village. While it is possible to swim, there is no official beach in Bozburun. However, a pleasent day can still be spent watching the ship builders on the waterfront assemble the wooden skeletons of future boats in the shadows of the towering cliffs that tower over the bay.

Dalaman is a city in Turkey, located on its southwestern coast. The Dalaman International Airport is situated about 6 km south of Dalaman town center, and is the nearest airport for destinations such as Marmaris, Dalyan, Fethiye, Kaş and others in the vicinity. Daily flights connect with Istanbul, while direct flights - both scheduled and charter - to and from major European cities occur several times weekly. Dalaman Airport is one of the busiest airports in Aegean Region of Turkey. Various companies based at the airport will be able to provide you with an airport transfer to your destination.

Dalyan

Dalyan is a town in southern Muğla Province of Turkey. Dalyan is established in an environmentally protected area. This is one of the few surviving places of paradise, an area of natural beauty and historical interest. The ancient city of Kaunos lies here with its ruins dating back to the 3rd Century. The Dalyan channel through which water circulates between the Mediterranean and Köycegiz Lake winds its way down past the ancient Rock Tombs to the sea, via a small network of lakes and waterways. With its mixture of fresh and salt water, these wetlands are now home to a vast number of fish and other water life, as well as the birds of many species which feed on them.

Datça

Datça is a town in Aegean Turkey, located on a long and narrow peninsula, which forms the boundary between Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. Datça is located 70-80 km west of Marmaris. The road from Marmaris is the only way to arrive overland. Although it’s possible to find direct bus services from main centres of the country, such as Istanbul during summer months; in the rest of the year your best bet is to arrive at Marmaris first, then transfer to another bus bound for Datça there. The ancient city of Knidos is located on the tip of the peninsula about 30 km west of Datça near the village of Yazıköy.

Fethiye

Fethiye is in Western Lycia on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Fethiye is a tourist town with an international atmosphere. It has an excellent marina and good night life. The town also serves as an excellent base for touring the inland country-side, and is probably the only city in the world where you'll find sarcophagus in the streets. These pre-Roman Lycian relics are especially spectacular when floodlit at night. The town has a population of around 50,000 but the population increases dramatically during the high season, from April to end of October, when off-shore residents spend their summers at their second homes.

Göcek

Göcek is a town in Western Lycia, Turkey. The gulf on the tip of which Göcek is located in known as one of the most beautiful yachting areas in the country, or even on the whole Mediterranean basin. When coming from Dalaman you can take the tunnel to avoid the very winding and narrow road over the mountain, which is 5 km longer than the route via tunnel. However, this option has a price as the tunnel costs 3 TL per car each way and accompanying pessengers won't be able to enjoy the scenery of the mountain road. While the town of Göcek itself has very little to see, its major draw is the coves of the Gulf of Göcek, though the beautifully-landscaped and palm lined waterfront promenade is extremely enjoyable.

Gökbel

Gökbel is a small traditional village in the mountains on the way to Iztuzu Beach from Dalyan. The village has spectacular views overlooking Sulunger Lake, Iztuzu Beach, and on clear days one can see Turunç near Marmaris and occasionally Rhodes in the distance. From upper Gökbel you can take small paved roads that lead to Ortaça, Sarigerme, and Aşi Beach. To take the road to Gökbel turn left at the Gözleme Restaurant across from the bakal on the road from Dalyan to Iztuzu Beach.

Kalkan

Kalkan is a town in Mediterranean Turkey. It is an enchanting, historic town and one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey's gorgeous Lycian Coast. There is an absence of mass tourism, and it remains a charming and unspoiled haven with brilliant blue crystal-clear sea, historic architecture, ancient history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality. Dalaman airport is the closest at about 1hr 30mins by taxi from Kalkan. To reach Kalkan you can take a mini-bus or motorcoach from most south coast towns.

Kaş

Kaş is halfway between Dalaman Airport (180 km) and Antalya Airport (192 km) and a fair distance from both, so it avoids excessive tourist trade. There are various ways to get to Kaş from these airports. You can hire a taxi in the airport - generally more expensive - around 200 YTL, or you can book a transfer from the hotel where you will be staying or you can take a bus or dolmuş (a shared/bus taxi of usually 12 passengers) however they stop in every small village along the way which takes more time. But, what's your hurry...?

Kekova

Kekova is a very popular destination, especially with yachters, as it is one of the most attractive spots of the Turkish coast. The name Kekova is Turkish for "plain of thyme" and describes the area of and around the ancient Lycian sunken ancient city of Simena. In ancient times Simena was a small fishing village, later a Crusaders’ outpost of the Knights of St. John and now the sleepy fishing village of Kale.

Köycegiz

The town of Köycegiz lies at the northern end of a lake of the same name and is joined to the Mediterranean by a natural channel which winds through Dalyan into the reed beds there and eventually into the sea. Every Monday there is a market/pazar in Köycegiz - the best one in the area. There is also a greenhouse on the road out of town towards Çandir and Sultaniye that has over 900 species of palm trees and makes for a very interesting side trip.

Marmaris

Marmaris is a town in Turkey, along the Mediterranean coast in the province of Muğla. There's plenty to do in Marmaris. Busy beaches, lots of bars and restaurants, plenty of shopping with fabulous bargains if you don't mind wearing fake designer labels. Marmaris has a busy nightlife with a street devoted to dance music and all the high tech clubbing scene. Bar Street is opposite the busy bazzar and will satisfy the most discerning clubbers with it's huge outdoor dance venues and all of the latest tunes. Dalaman Airport is about 100km away from Marmaris.

Ortaça

Ortaça is a town and district of Muğla Province in the Aegean region of Turkey. Ortaça is a typical Turkish working-class town with an economy based on agriculture. It lies midway between Dalaman and Dalyan. Its name literally means "the town in the middle", possibly a reference to its location in the middle of the surrounding plain and is indeed a regional hub. The town pulls benefits from this fertile plain and the economy largely depends on tomatoes, citrus fruits, cotton and pomegranates. The market day is on Fridays and the whole town becomes a hive of activity worthy of a visit.

Patara Beach

Patara Beach is next to the ruins of the ancient city of the same name. Possessing a natural harbour, Patara was said to have been founded by Patarus, a son of Apollo. The name Patera is still attached to the numerous ruins of the city. The site is currently being excavated during two summer months each year by a team of Turkish archaeologists. At the end of 2007, all the sand had been cleared from the amphitheatre and some of the other buildings, and the columns on the main street had been partially re-erected (with facsimile capitals). The excavations have revealed masonry in remarkable condition.

Sarigerme

Sarigerme is the name of the beach, not the name of the Village. The Village it self is Osmaniye but for some reason it did become known as Sarigerme. The Village Osmaniye is about 850 meters from Sarigerme Beach. There is a 15 minute walk from Holiday Village and 20 minute walk from the Hilton Golf Resort. It is a small village with traditional shops, eateries and a drop-dead gorgeous beach, it's got everything needed for a classic sun-and-sand holiday.
